What does SMART stand for?
Small to Medium Area Repair Techniques
They are specialised methods used to professionally repair minor damage to vehicle body work, without the inconvenience and expense involved with replacing, or respraying multiple panels. Using the same body shop quality paints and materials, infra red drying, and specifically designed spray guns, the damaged area is repaired and blended into the undamaged area, leaving your car as original as possible.
How do you correctly match my vehicles paint colour?
Using the latest water based colour mixing scheme, and a computer program to establish the correct formula for your car, we mix the desired quantity. This includes all the metallic, pearl, and solid finishes, used by vehicle manufactures today. All modern cars have a water based paint from factory, so we are matching like for like.
Do SMART repairs last?
A correctly carried out SMART repair will be no different to a correctly performed body shop repair regarding longevity and quality. We use a 2007 compliant 2 pack lacquer which once hardened, is as durable as the paint used at the factory. In the past, some Smart Repair companies have used an inferior single pack lacquer, similar to that found in an aerosol, which would go dull after a few months, GRD Smart only use high quality tried and tested materials, the same found in any quality bodyshop.
Why SMART Repairs is not a cheap alternative...
Generally cheaper than a body shop repair, SMART Repairs are not a cheap DIY type of repair. In the 10+ years I have been in this trade, the quality of materials & repair equipment have improved more than in most other industries. The technology and advances in paints, regulations, means that a SMART repair performed properly will be no less in quality than a traditional body shop repair. Body shops will have you believe SMART repairs are not long lasting. GRD Smart has many repeat customers who could tell you otherwise.
Do I have to bring my car to you?
No, being a completely mobile operation, you can enjoy the highest quality vehicle repairs without even having to leave your home or office. Our experts come to you at a time and place that works for you.
Will my car be affected by overspray?
No, the use of specialised low pressure,low volume spray painting guns and the masking up of surrounding
panels along with Bumper Image’s experience workmanship ensures overspray is not a worry.
Will the paint be spilt on my driveway/floor?
No,The work area is covered by a protective ground sheet.All paint mixing and filling of the specialised spray guns is managed inside our mobile repair vehicle.
Can I drive my car straight after the repair is finished?
Yes, all our paint work is fully cured and polished on completion to provide a professional finish and time effective mobile repair service.
Will I be able to see the difference in the paint?
No! The paint system and processes we use ensure that the appearance of the repaired area will be equal to the original factory finish, and after an appropriate curing time, you can treat the new paint exactly the same as you would the original finish. Because we only paint part panels, by definition our colour matching will be equal to or better than that achieved by most panel shops.
